In Oregon, marijuana law is routinely used to seize cash and property from drivers and home owners. Oregon police pocketed $1.7 million of Oregonians’ money last year under forfeiture. Ninety percent of criminal forfeitures were drug-related, and half of those were for pot. Of civil forfeiture, 97 percent were drug crimes and one out of five were for pot.
